Help Shape and Join the Future of Support of our Brain Cancer Family Network Group

The Brain Cancer Family Network Group (FNG) Program, conducted in partnership with the Brain Tumour Alliance of Australia (BTAA) is in development and due to roll out in July 2025 to provide compassionate, practical mental health relief for patients, families and carers affected by brain cancer. Share your feedback and register to be among the first to access this program when it launches.

About the Family Network Group (FNG) Program

The Brain Cancer Family Network Group (FNG) Program is an initiative of the Australian Brain Cancer Foundation (ABCF) in collaboration with the Brain Tumour Alliance of Australia (BTAA) aimed at alleviating the emotional, mental and social pressures of brain cancer for patients and their families and carers.

This program will provide direct assistance to those facing the challenges of a brain cancer diagnosis, helping to improve their quality of life. It is currently in the development phase. By registering for the program and completing the Patient and Community Feedback Questionnaire, you can help shape the future of this critical initiative and ensure your family is among the first to be notified when the program is launched.

What the Program will provide

Once operational, the FNG Program will provide:

Access to a counsellor

Structured and unstructured access to a counsellor, group sessions and peer support

Care for the whole family

A safe space for children of brain cancer patients or paediatric patients to talk, interact and have fun

Social Connection

Guest speakers, mental health first aid tips and social connectivity

The ABCF is committed to enhancing its initiatives and providing the brain cancer community with the vital support it needs. We value your input and would like to know the areas where you need the most assistance. Please complete the questionnaire to help us better support you.

How to Get Involved

Your input and early registration are critical to the success of the FNG Program. Here’s how you can contribute:

1. Register for the Program

By registering your interest in the FHG Program, you’ll be among the first to receive updates, application information, and notifications when the program is fully funded and operational.

2. Complete the Patient and Community Feedback Questionnaire

Share your experiences, challenges, and suggestions to help us shape the program. Your feedback ensures we design a program that meets the real needs of brain cancer patients and their families.

Who Will Be Eligible?

The FNG Program, once operational, will be available to:

  • Brain Cancer Patients: Individuals with benign or malignant brain tumours, of all ages.
  • Caregivers and Families: Immediate family members of brain cancer patients requiring financial support.

Eligibility will include:

  • Residency in the relevant region (starting with Canberra).

Why This Program Matters

Brain cancer doesn’t just affect individuals—it impacts entire families. Financial pressures, emotional challenges, and practical barriers can feel overwhelming and contribute to mental health challenges and isolation.

The FNG Program will address these challenges by:

  • Providing professional counselling sessions
  • Providing flexible and compassionate support, formally and informally
  • Allowing families to focus on health, recovery, and quality time together.

By registering for the program and sharing your feedback, you are helping bring this vision to life and supporting a future where no family has to face brain cancer alone.
